Symptracker Review

SympTracker analyzes these details to create an incident summary and includes such details as average severity, duration, and frequency. By collating this information the app tracks the effectiveness of therapeutic treatments and preventive measures.

The app allows users to take a proactive approach to dealing with the problem and comes with an in-built resource library of preventative measures and access to other online resources. The app works with iPod touch (generation 3, 4, 5), the iPad, iPhone 3GS/4/4S/5, and works with iOS 4.3 and up.

The app carries a resource library of important precautionary steps to be taken to minimize risk. With this feature, users can follow the implementation of their prevention measures as well- so they can keep themselves up-to-date on their action plan. This information is collated, analyzed and becomes part of the Summary.

The app is published by Huck LLC, a company based in Washington DC set up in 2012 by one M. Sean Linebach. The company focuses on making mobile apps largely for iOS platforms. Updated Version 1.1 was released on Mar 11, 2013 after fixing minor bugs (first published on 22 Feb 2013).

Where to Get It

This app can be downloaded from iTunes. Screen shots of the app are displayed on the iTunes website.

SympTracker is free and available worldwide for download exclusively through the App Store where it is listed under the Medical category.

Social Media & Reviews

The App is described online at the DailyAppShow website but no user reviews are available. The iTunes page states that Apple cannot give users an overview of the ratings because there hasn't been enough feedback on the application's latest outing.

SympTracker 1.1 is an updated version of the recently released medical app that enables people with cold sores to map and better manage their condition. The application is free. SympTracker helps identify patterns including common triggers, locations, severity, duration of episodes. It pinpoints which treatments have worked best and if certain preventive measures are effective. One must have iTunes installed with an active iTunes account in order to download and install the software.

What Does It Do?

Under normal circumstances, because cold sore symptoms may be sporadic or get better with time, it is difficult to single out the cause and pick out the habits or treatment steps that have truly made a difference to the patient. SympTracker lets users record the details of each occurrence, the location, symptoms of each episode, the factors that may have triggered an incident, and any treatment programs undertaken.
